The sealing of a watch is not a permanent condition. We recommend performing a water resistance test every 2 years and / or before prolonged or frequent exposure to immersion in water.
In this service, the watchmaker opens the watch and takes out the movement of the box, washes the case and the bracelet (if it is metallic), replaces all the seals as well as the spring wings of the bracelet and the battery if it is a quartz watch. Re-engages the movement and performs new tests, depending on the characteristics of the watch.
We recommend a maintenance service every two years, when the water resistance test fails or when there is a malfunction and it is not justified to perform a complete service.
In this service, the watchmaker opens the watch, completely disassembles the case (bezel, glass, crown, chrono buttons) and proceeds with cleaning of all the components of the case and the bracelet (if it is metallic) with an ultrasound machine. If the customer chooses the polishing option: before cleaning it, a specialized technician will perform all polishing operations on the case and the bracelet (if it is metallic) with sophisticated machines. The watchmaker reassembles the box, replacing all the seals and proceeds with the fixing or gluing of the glass; then performs the water resistance tests, depending on the characteristics of the watch.
If it is a quartz watch, the battery is replaced and if it is a mechanical watch the watchmaker cleans and lubricates the escapement wheel and the balance; performs a precision test on the movement and if necessary proceeds with a regulation. The watchmaker then inserts the movement and performs the leakage tests again, depending on the characteristics of the watch, and ends with a control where the watch is tested for at least 48 hours in various positions.
Finally, the watchmaker replaces the spring wings and assembles the bracelet before performing a final aesthetic control of the watch.
All precision mechanisms require maintenance after a certain time. The frequency depends on the models and the mechanisms, the conditions of use and also the climate. As a general rule, a watch needs a full service every 3 to 6 years.
